Warming centre opens to residents impacted by gas outage
Lake Country, B.C. - Central Okanagan Emergency Management (COEM) is aware of a FortisBC natural gas outage affecting parts of Lake Country, Kelowna and the Okanagan Indian Band (Duck Lake IR7).
To support residents who may be impacted, the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) has been activated at Level 1. As part of this response, a warming centre is open this evening at 9 p.m. until further notice at the Oyama Community Club, 15710 Oyama Road to provide temporary comfort for those affected by the outage.
Do not use outdoor equipment inside. It can cause carbon monoxide poisoning or fire. Never use:

BBQs or propane grills

Camping stoves
-
Patio heaters
-
Generators
-
Charcoal or fuel‑burning devices
