Update regarding Emergency Support Services (ESS) July 31

 

Central Okanagan, B.C. – Residents evacuated due to the Drought Hill wildfire can access basic emergency supports online or attend one of two reception centres today. As of tomorrow, only the Peachland reception centre will continue to operate. 

Evacuees with a BC Services Card App can access Emergency Support Services online at https://ess.gov.bc.ca/ or attend either reception centre: 

  • Royal LePage Place, 2760 Cameron Avenue, West Kelowna until 4pm today, or 

  • Peachland Community Centre, 4450 - 6 Street, Peachland until 8pm tonight and will re-open at 9 a.m. tomorrow, August 1.

Public safety and the safety of emergency response personnel are the primary concerns at this time.  Emergency Operations Centre staff are working with other response agencies to manage the situation and minimize the impacts, however residents of the area should be prepared to obey an evacuation order.  

New information will be released to the public and media as soon as it becomes available.

Emergency response personnel request that the public: 

  • Only call 911 in case of emergency 

  • Visit cordemergency.ca.for up-to-date information on the situation, including a map, and to sign up for e-updates
