Quilpituk Creek Wildfire now held

Central Okanagan West Electoral Area, B.C. – BC Wildfire has indicated this morning that the Quilpituk Creek Wildfire is now held, meaning the wildfire is projected, based on the fuel and weather conditions and resource availability, to remain within the current boundary.

The Emergency Operations Centre is deploying a rapid damage assessment team to assess readiness for re-entry. Danger trees, hydro lines, and other hazards will be assessed as quickly but thoroughly as possible.  Significant resources are being deployed to complete these assessments and on Friday morning, the EOC will advise residents on the date, timing and other critical considerations for returning home.

The Emergency Operations Centre will provide a digital and a print information package to returning residents with more information and safety considerations. Monitor coemergency.ca  and subscribe for notifications at coemergency.ca/subscribe to receive the latest information.
