Quilpituk Creek Wildfire Information Update

Central Okanagan West Electoral Area, B.C.  – BC Wildfire Service is planning small-scale ignitions in the southwest perimeter to bring the fire’s edge to the established control lines to reduce the potential for further growth. Smoke will be visible in the area during these operations.

As power has now been restored, assessments of the Killiney Beach and Westshore Estates water systems are underway as crews work to bring the systems back online. Residents served by these systems should be aware that a boil water notice will be in effect when it is safe to return home.

An initial hazard assessment has also been completed to support re-entry planning and public safety. This assessment will help identify any remaining risks and inform future re-entry decisions. More information will be shared with residents in the coming days.

Structural protection equipment continues to be repositioned throughout priority areas of the fire zone, while Wilson's Landing and North Westside fire crews continue patrols and monitoring activities.

To support the restoration of water service, crews will turn off individual sprinkler systems drawing from the utility system when they are identified within the evacuation order area. This will help make water available to the community as quickly as possible.

If you observe fire activity outside of designated or expected areas, report wildfires by calling *5555, or dial 911 for fires within city limits.

For residents

Evacuation orders will remain in place until it is safe to return, including addressing hazards such as damaged utilities, hazard trees and unsafe road conditions.

Westside Road remains closed in both directions. See details of the closure at Drive BC.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:
