Quilpituk Creek Wildfire Evacuation Order expanded to include Shelter Cove, Secret Point and Cinnabar Creek
Central Okanagan West Electoral Area, B.C. – An EVACUATION ORDER has been issued for properties in the Shelter Cove, Secret Point and Cinnabar Creek areas. This area was previously on Evacuation Alert and advance notice was provided last night (August 5) to residents.
Residents on evacuation order should leave their properties immediately to keep safe. The evacuation route is south on Westside Road. Please follow instructions of emergency personnel and traffic control in the area.

The following addresses are included in this EVACUATION ORDER:
- 3545, 3595, 3625, 3645, 3677, 3707, 3723, 3737, 3751, 3765, 3777, 3850, 3985, 4017, 4029, 4049, 4069, 4129, 4163, 4200, 4215, 4400, 4401, and 4625 Westside Road
The Evacuation Order has been issued at the recommendation of BC Wildfire Service due to forecasted weather conditions that are expected to increase fire behaviour and contribute to further growth of the Quilpituk Creek wildfire. While no structures are currently under immediate threat, the order is intended to ensure residents can leave safely ahead of anticipated conditions.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

Follow the direction of emergency personnel.

Shut off all gas and electrical appliances other than refrigerators and freezers.

Close all windows and doors.

Close gates (latch) but do not lock.

Gather your family and, if you have room, take a neighbour or someone needing transportation. Do not use more vehicles than you have to.

Take critical items (medicine, purse, wallet, and keys) only if they are immediately available. Take pets in pet kennels or on leash.

Do not use the telephone unless you need emergency service.
