Quilpituk Creek Wildfire


Central Okanagan Electoral Area West, B.C. – Due to increased fire activity, an EVACUATION ALERT has been issued for properties south of Cinnabar Creek, including the Wilson’s Landing area and west rural areas.

To determine if you are in the evacuation area, view the detailed map showing affected properties at coemergency.ca/map.

Residents in the Evacuation Alert area are advised to remain prepared for potential changes in conditions and updates from emergency officials. At this time, do not self-evacuate or get into your vehicle unless specifically directed to do so, as unnecessary travel can contribute to congestion and hinder emergency response operations. Instead, use this time to prepare your emergency kit, gather essential medications, important documents, pet supplies, and other necessities that you may need if an Evacuation Order is issued.

The following addresses are included in this EVACUATION ALERT:

  • 1750 N Westside Road to 3523 N Westside Road
  • Bald Range Creek
  • Bear Creek Road, north and west of existing gravel pit
  • Canon Creek
  • Jenny Creek Road
  • Lake Okanagan Resort
  • Westside Place
  • Wilsons Landing (Bancroft Rd, Browse Rd, Banff Rd, Bolton Rd, Baird Rd)

The Evacuation Alert does not include the identified parcel east of Bald Range Creek (District Lot 4236) because this property is already under Evacuation Order. 

Fire crews are aware of increased fire activity in the area and are responding.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

  • Locate all family members and designate a meeting area outside the evacuation area, should an Evacuation Order be called while separated.
  • Pack essential items such as government-issued ID, medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers (e.g. insurance, credit, and mortgage information), immediate care needs for dependents and, if time and space permits, keepsakes for quick departure. 
  • Prepare to move persons with disabilities, children and/or neighbours, if assistance is needed.
  • Prepare to take pets with you and move livestock to a safe area (if possible).
  • Arrange transportation for all your household members. Fill the gas tanks of personal vehicles.
  • Arrange accommodation for all members of the residence, if possible. 
  • Wait for an Evacuation Order to be issued before evacuating. 
  • Monitor cordermergency.ca for information on evacuation orders and the location 
  • Pre-register with ESS by creating a profile through the Evacuee Registration and Assistance (ERA) tool at ESS.gov.bc.ca. Download the BC Services Card app and verify your account. Once evacuated you can access the online self-service registration tool and receive instructions on the types of support available and how they can be accessed.

Emergency response personnel request that the public:

  • Avoid the area so emergency responders can effectively perform their duties
  • CALL 911 only in case of an emergency

New information will be released to the public and media as soon as it becomes available. Public safety and the safety of emergency response personnel are the primary concerns at this time.
