Quilpituk Creek Wildfire: August 11 Update
Central Okanagan West Electoral Area, B.C. – The evacuation orders and alerts for the properties impacted by the Quilpituk Creek Wildfire will remain in place today as emergency responders continue to work to contain the fire along the southern edge. Read the Aug. 11, 2026 update from BC Wildfire Service for more information.
Plans for re-entry are in progress to support a safe and coordinated return home. BC Hydro is working to reenergize a section of powerlines along Westside Road, emergency crews continue to assess danger trees along the corridor and evaluate slope stability, and restoring water service to affected neighbourhoods. An extended boil water notice will be in place for returning residents until further notice.
In preparation for residents to return, Emergency Operations Centre will provide a returning home information package to support re-entry, such as removing of debris, cleaning of fridges and freezers and other hazard and safety considerations. Other updates will be provided in the coming days.
Westside Road remains closed in both directions. Find more information at DriveBC.
