Peachland Creek Wildfire operational update

Peachland, B.C. – The evacuation alert will remain until further notice. Residents  impacted by the Peachland Creek wildfire will continue to see fire crews mop up activities and danger tree assessments.

Residents can visit the interactive map on CORDemergency.ca to search by street address to determine if they are affected.

Beat the heat

During extended periods of high temperatures, it’s important for residents to stay cool and hydrated. In Peachland, take a break at our Splash Pad in Heritage Park on Beach Avenue, open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the summer. The Peachland Community Centre and Swim Bay, also on Beach Ave, have public drinking fountains to quench your thirst and fill your bottles. You can pop into the Community Centre to cool down anytime during opening hours, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. Lambly Park, Hwy 97 and San Clemente Avenue, has a water fountain for you, your bottle and your dog! Find information on local parks at Parks & Trails | District of Peachland.

Re-entry resources

Out of an abundance of caution, residents returning home are recommended to inspect their property and trees to assess any issues or damage.

Traffic interruptions are expected along Highway 97 between Hardy Street and Renfrew Road as fire crews action hot spots and danger trees are assessed and fallen. Visit DriveBC.ca for up to date highway information.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IF EVACUATED:

  • Follow the direction of emergency personnel.
  • Shut off all gas and electrical appliances other than refrigerators and freezers.
  • Close all windows and doors.
  • Close gates (latch) but do not lock.
  • Gather your family and, if you have room, take a neighbour or someone needing transportation. Do not use more vehicles than you have to.
  • Take critical items (medicine, purse, wallet, and keys) only if they are immediately available. Take pets in pet kennels or on leash.
  • Do not use the telephone unless you need emergency service.
