Evacuation orders and alerts remain overnight for Bald Range Wildfire

PEACHLAND and ELECTORAL AREA WEST – The evacuation orders for the 49 properties and evacuation alerts for 762 properties in the Bald Range Wildfire area will remain in place overnight. At this point, no additional orders or evacuations are anticipated tonight.

BC Wildfire Service personnel are responding to this incident along with all available local fire crews in the Central Okanagan. Conditions remain extremely dry and wildfire risk is high, we ask all residents to exercise extreme caution and vigilance.

For current road impacts, visit DriveBC.

Refer to the Central Okanagan Emergency Management’s website for the latest news releases and check the coemergency.ca/map to search by street address to determine if you are under an evacuation order or alert.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

  • Continue to monitor coemergency.ca for information on changes to evacuation orders and alerts.
  • View the BC Hydro outage map for information on power outages in the area.

  • Stay clear of aircraft working in and around the lake.

Residents may notice smoke and ongoing movement of firefighting equipment in the area. If you observe fire activity outside of designated or expected areas, report wildfires by calling *5555, or dial 911 for fires within city limits.

The Bald Range Wildfire is a reminder of the importance of community readiness in a fast-moving event. Tactical evacuations may be necessary prior to any official notification from the Emergency Operations Centre if conditions are critical to life safety and well-being. Residents should be well prepared, particularly in wildfire interface areas.
