Evacuation alerts lifted for Quilpituk Creek Wildfire

Central Okanagan B.C. -- The evacuation alert for all properties from Cinnabar Creek to Westshore Estates has been lifted.

BC Wildfire Service has classified the wildfire as Under Control, meaning the wildfire is not projected to spread beyond the current perimeter.  

Westside Road is open to local traffic only along the north end towards Okanagan Indian Band. If travelling on Westside Road, please do not stop along the roadway. Some residents have returned or will be returning to their properties, and some may be assessing significant damage or loss. Please respect their privacy during this difficult time. 

Following a wildfire, hazards may remain along roadways and wildlife activity may be higher than usual. Please drive slowly, follow posted speed limits and follow all signage. Keeping the route clear for residents, essential services and others who need access will help support the community’s recovery. 

We are grateful for the incredible support from BC Wildfire Service, the Province and local firefighting crews for their swift and continued response to keep our regional communities safe.  

A Returning Home Guide is available to the Regional District of Central Okanagan residents who have returned to their properties to support clean-up and safety risks that may remain, along with other relevant resources.  

Conditions are extremely dry and if smoke from a wildfire is spotted, report it immediately at *5555 from a cell phone or 1-800-663-5555. If there is threat to life call 9-1-1.

  • The operation of any off-road vehicle for recreational purposes on Crown land is prohibited throughout Kamloops Fire Centre. 

  • Stay informed of air quality alerts and find out what you can do to protect yourself from the effects of wildfire smoke by visiting Wildfires | Interior Health. 

Emergency notifications 

Residents should also prepare to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours in case of any emergency that might force them from their home. Subscribe to emergency notifications at coemergency.ca/subscribe. Existing subscribers can update their preferred methods of receiving notifications:
