Evacuation Alert: Kalamoir Park Wildfire

WEST KELOWNA, B.C.  – An EVACUATION ALERT has been issued for parts of the Lakeview Heights and Casa Loma area.

Please refer to the interactive map on coemergency.ca/map where you can search by street address to determine if you are affected. 

Areas include:

  • Bridgeview Road
  • Brookfield Court
  • 2211 – 2665 Campbell Road
  • Casa Grande Drive
  • Casa Rio Drive
  • 2910, 2913, 2914 Collens Hill Road
  • 2193, 2194, 2197 Essen Road
  • Graymar Road
  • Hillsborough Road
  • Hillsborough Place
  • Kelview Road
  • Kelview Court
  • Lake Court
  • 771, 780, 781, 791 McCartney Road
  • Orsini Place
  • Ridgeview Road
  • East side of Thacker Drive from 2205-3119
  • Wales Road
  • Zdralek Cove

Residents in the area are advised to be ready to leave their homes at a moment’s notice. They should be prepared to be away from home for an extended period, make arrangements for their pets, and pack essential items such as medicines and important documents. 

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

  • Locate all family members and designate a meeting area outside the evacuation area, should an Evacuation Order be called while separated.
  • Pack essential items such as government-issued ID, medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers (e.g. insurance, credit, and mortgage information), immediate care needs for dependents and, if time and space permits, keepsakes for quick departure.
  • Prepare to move persons with disabilities, children and/or neighbours, if assistance is needed.
  • Prepare to take pets with you and move livestock to a safe area (if possible).
  • Arrange transportation for all your household members. Fill the gas tanks of personal vehicles. 
  • Arrange accommodation for all members of the residence, if possible. 
  • Wait for an Evacuation Order to be issued before evacuating. 
  • Monitor coermergency.ca for information on evacuation orders and the location of Muster Centres.

An evaluation of the situation is underway and specific details will be released as they are confirmed. Public safety and the safety of emergency response personnel are the primary concerns at this time. Residents are asked to avoid the area to allow crews to do their work safely.

An evacuation order remains in place for 357 households. 

Emergency Operations Centre staff are working with other response agencies to manage the situation and minimize the impacts, but residents of the area should be prepared to follow an evacuation order.
