Evacuation alert issued for La Casa area
Central Okanagan Electoral Area West, B.C. – Due to a nearby wildfire, residents in the La Casa area (including La Casa Lakeside Resort and La Casa Cottages) are on evacuation alert. Please refer to the interactive map on coemergency.ca/map where you can search by street address to determine if you are affected.
Residents in the area are advised to be ready to leave their homes at a moment’s notice. They should be prepared to be away from home for an extended period, make arrangements for their pets, and pack essential items such as medicines and important documents.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:
- Locate all household members and designate a meeting area outside the area, should an Evacuation Order be called while separated.
- Pack essential items such as government-issued ID, medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers (e.g. insurance, credit, and mortgage information), immediate care needs for dependents and, if time and space permits, keepsakes for quick departure if necessary.
- Pack a minimum of one week’s worth of supplies including food, water, toiletries, and weather appropriate clothing.
- Prepare to move disabled persons, children and/or neighbours, if assistance is needed.
- Prepare to take pets with you and move livestock to a safe area, if possible.
- Arrange transportation for all your household members. Fill the gas tanks of personal vehicles.
- Arrange accommodation for all your household members, if possible.
- Proactively create an ESS profile on the provincial Evacuee Registration & Assistance (ERA) Tool at ess.gov.bc.ca Persons who have a BC Services Card may be eligible to receive an E Transfer using the BC Services Card App.
- Wait for an Evacuation Order to be issued before evacuating.

An evaluation of the situation is underway and specific details will be released as they are confirmed. Public safety and the safety of emergency response personnel are the primary concerns at this time.
Emergency Operations Centre staff are working with other response agencies to manage the situation and minimize the impacts, but residents of the area should be prepared to follow an evacuation order.
New information will be released to the public and media as soon as it becomes available.
Emergency response personnel request that the public:
- Avoid the area so emergency responders can effectively perform their duties
- CALL 911 only in case of an emergency
