Peachland and Electoral Area West, B.C. – Evacuation orders and evacuation alerts remain in effect for affected properties in the Central Okanagan West Electoral Area and the District of Peachland due to the Bald Range Wildfire (K51490). Residents should continue to follow all evacuation instructions and be prepared to leave on short notice if conditions change. 

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO TO PREPARE FOR AN EVACUATION:

  • Locate all family members and designate a meeting area outside the evacuation area, should an Evacuation Order be called while separated.
  • Pack essential items such as government-issued ID, medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers (e.g. insurance, credit, and mortgage information), immediate care needs for dependents and, if time and space permits, keepsakes for quick departure.
  • Prepare to move persons with disabilities, children and/or neighbours, if assistance is needed.
  • Prepare to take pets with you and move livestock to a safe area (if possible).
  • Arrange transportation for all your household members. Fill the gas tanks of personal vehicles. If transportation assistance is needed, call the Emergency Operations Centre public information line at 250-469-8493.
  • Arrange accommodation for all members of the residence, if possible. 
  • Wait for an Evacuation Order to be issued before evacuating.  
  • Monitor cordermergency.ca for information on evacuation orders and the location of Reception/Muster Centres.

The Bald Range Wildfire is burning west of Summerland and continues to affect areas within the Regional District of Central Okanagan and the District of Peachland.

The Peachland Fire & Rescue is working closely with BC Wildfire Service to support structure protection efforts in the area. These activities are focused on reducing risk to homes and critical infrastructure while crews continue wildfire response operations.

Residents are reminded that access to evacuation order areas remains restricted to protect public safety and allow emergency personnel to carry out wildfire suppression, structure protection and assessment activities safely.

Important reminders

  • Continue to monitor coemergency.ca for updates on evacuation orders and alerts, and use coemergency.ca/map to check your address and determine whether your property is affected.
  • If you are on evacuation alert, be prepared to leave if conditions change. Prepare a 72-hour emergency kit, gather important documents and medications, make a plan for pets and livestock, know how to shut off utilities at your property, review your insurance coverage and ensure you have an evacuation plan for your household.
  • Stay well clear of wildfire aircraft operating on and around Okanagan Lake. If you see firefighting aircraft working on the lake, move out of the area immediately and stay close to shore until operations have passed.

  • Evacuated and not yet registered with ESS? Register through the ERA tool at ESS.gov.bc.ca. In-person assistance is available at the Westbank Lions Community Centre (2466 Main St., West Kelowna).
  • Need to renew ESS supports? If you received an e-transfer, call 1-800-387-4258 and have your file number ready. If you are staying in a hotel, ESS will contact you directly regarding extensions.
  • Need other renewals or in-person support? Visit the ESS reception centre at the Westbank Lions Community Centre. 
  • Need overnight lodging? Group lodging is available at Royal LePage Place Arena (2760 Cameron Rd., West Kelowna). RVs and trailers can park overnight at Mount Boucherie Secondary School (2751 Cameron Rd., West Kelowna) and access services at Royal LePage Place.
