Peachland and Electoral Area West, B.C. – An EVACUATION ORDER has been issued for properties on Brenda Mine Road and in the Renfrew and Upper Princeton areas. Residents on evacuation order should leave their properties immediately to keep safe.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

  • Follow the direction of emergency personnel.

  • Shut off all gas and electrical appliances other than refrigerators and freezers.

  • Close all windows and doors.

  • Close gates (latch) but do not lock.

  • Gather your family and, if you have room, take a neighbour or someone needing transportation. Do not use more vehicles than you have to.

  • Take critical items (medicine, purse, wallet, and keys) only if they are immediately available. Take pets in pet kennels or on leash.

  • Do not use the telephone unless you need emergency service.

Emergency support services (ESS)

Evacuees are strongly encouraged to reach out to family and friends in neighbouring communities for overnight accommodation. 

Very limited space is available at the group lodging site at Royal LePage Place located at 2750 Cameron Road in West Kelowna. There is also space for RVs in the Boucherie Secondary School parking lot located at 2751 Cameron Road in West Kelowna.

If an evacuee has a BC Services Card App, they can register for ESS online. To register with the BC Services Card App, evacuees can create a profile online at ESS.gov.bc.ca. Once you’ve created a profile you can access the online self-service registration tool and receive instructions on the types of support available and how they can be accessed. 

For those without the BC Services Card App, evacuees must report to a Reception Centre to access support. For in-person support, people who cannot meet their own needs during evacuation should report to the reception/muster centre for assistance and lodging. An ESS reception/muster centre is set up at Westbank Lions Community Centre in West Kelowna and will open at 9am. 

Emergency response personnel request that the public:

  • Avoid the area so emergency responders can effectively perform their duties
  • Please only CALL 911 in case of emergency
  • Call the public information line at 250-469-8490 (local) or 1-877-569-8490 (toll-free) for information

The Central Okanagan Emergency Management has activated its Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to support BC Wildfire Service crews fighting the Bald Range Wildfire
