Peachland, B.C. – An EVACUATION ORDER has been issued for properties in the Brent Road area, south of Peachland. Residents on evacuation order should leave their properties immediately to keep safe. Residents must evacuate to the north. 

Specific addresses are as follows:

  • 7210 Brent Road to 7100 Brent Road

  • 7280 HWY 97S to 6801 HWY 97S

  • 307 Log Chute Road to 303 Log Chute Road

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

  • Follow the direction of emergency personnel.

  • Shut off all gas and electrical appliances other than refrigerators and freezers.

  • Close all windows and doors.

  • Close gates (latch) but do not lock.

  • Gather your family and, if you have room, take a neighbour or someone needing transportation. Do not use more vehicles than you have to.

  • Take critical items (medicine, purse, wallet, and keys) only if they are immediately available. Take pets in pet kennels or on leash.

  • Do not use the telephone unless you need emergency service.

Emergency support services (ESS)

People needing support during an evacuation are encouraged to create a profile online at ESS.gov.bc.ca. People who have created a profile can log into the online self-service registration tool to receive instructions on the types of support available and how they can be accessed.

For in-person support, people who cannot meet their own needs during evacuation should report to the reception/muster centre for assistance and lodging. An ESS reception/muster centre is set up at Westbank Lions Community Centre in West Kelowna.

Emergency response personnel request that the public:

  • Avoid the area so emergency responders can effectively perform their duties
  • Please only CALL 911 in case of emergency
  • Call the public information line at 250-469-8490 (local) or 1-877-569-8490 (toll-free) for information

The Central Okanagan Emergency Management’s Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) remains activated to support BC Wildfire Service crews fighting this and other wildfire activity.
